What Is Your Magellan Academy or Thomas Blitch Experience?

I've received great feedback from my website about my Magellan Academy and Thomas Blitch experience. I've even received suggestions to have a place to feature former parents or employee's experiences. You can e-mail me or visit my website detailing my Magellan Academy Jacksonville experience and exchange with Thomas Blitch.

I will post your story on my Jacksonville Day Care Review website on the new Your Experience page. I look forward to hearing from you about your bad or interesting experience with Magellan Academies and/or Thomas Blitch. Thank you!

Magellan Academy Jacksonville - I Have Issues

In addition to the main safety issue I have with Magellan Academy, I think it is a glorified drop-off center with a long list of so-called services that are only there to sell you on them, not for the true benefit of your child. Don't get me wrong, Magellan Academy is just one of many Jacksonville day care centers that do this. OK, it's a business, understood. But this is a special business because it has to do with the well being of your child. It took about 4 months of my child being in Magellan Academies Durban Crossing location, for me to realize that I wanted to do better for my child.

The Magellan Academy President Thomas Blitch is quite fond of his "Awards"and was quick to tell me how much smarter he was than me in his demeaning e-mails. This man is so bottom line driven and narcissistic, I wouldn't expect Magellan Academy to be any better.

They tell you that you get a daily report. Trust me, all of the reports from child to child pretty much say the same thing. My reports told me how my child at 100% of things like hamburgers, barbecue sandwiches, etc. First, my child has never eaten 100% of anything and secondly, she doesn't eat these things. Not that I haven't tried. I even picked her up early once and her report was already filled out for the entire day. Why not forget such busy work and use that time for the teachers to focus on the children?

Also, my child was always, I mean always sick when going to Magellan Academy in Jacksonville, FL. I understand kids are going to share germs, fine, but my child was constantly sick and I noticed on the cameras that the changing tables were not being regularly cleaned between each child. She has been so healthy and hasn't gotten sick at all since I've pulled her out. And she is always playing around other children and regularly exposed to public playgrounds. It's been nice not having to make near weekly trips to her doctor.

I would just encourage you to look at Montessori schools for your children. They are passionate about what they do and approach your child's care in a manner that fosters true growth in countless areas. It took me all of five minutes to realize how I had done my child a disservice by enrolling her in Magellan Academy.

But if you talk to Thomas Blitch, don't expect him to admit that anything is wrong with Magellan Academy. I found the gentleman impossible to deal with and found him to be under the impression that he was absolutely perfect.

Magellan Day Care in Jacksonville, Florida

I had the unfortunate experience of enrolling my child in Magellan Academy, a purportedly esteemed Jacksonville day care. Due to a safety concern that I worked with the staff for well over 3 months on, I had to remove my child. That wasn't the only probably I had with the care that my daughter received at Magellan. The aftermath was just as bad and helped me realize how Magellan Academy wasn't even one of the better Jacksonville day cares. For the full explanation of not only what happened with my child, but the poor treatment I received from day care President Thomas Blitch, visit www.jacksonvilledaycarereview.com.

This has nothing to do with revenge or trying to tarnish someone, but rather my attempt to tell the full scope of my experience to as many people as possible. Magellan has some good people working for them, but it's painfully obvious that the problems come from the top. I've never been treated so poorly by any business establishment, especially one that claims to be a Christian organization. I'm a Christian and was absolutely appalled at the amount of pride and narcissism emoted from Thomas Blitch, the day care's President.
